Last year I intending travelling to the US for a definite six months period, with the possibility of lengthening my stay.
I found no insurance company in my country to give me such a long term insurance coverage to the States. I thought of searching over the Internet for travel insurance for EU travellers travelling outside the EU and sure enough I came across Globelink International.
Globelink International were offering a good coverage for what I required and at a good price too. However I was still wary about buying the insurance over the Internet from overseas as I don't know anyone else who has done so and I had no clue whether this company really existed or not. So I made contact with the FSA - Financial Services Authority - in the UK to check that this is a fully registered company, and sure it is!
I then made a phone call to G I to clarify and put my mind at rest about certain issues especially medical coverage, which is so important when travelling to the US, and David himself answered the phone. I then proceeded to buy the insurance over the Internet with no difficulty whatsoever and in no time I received all documentation and information over email.
Quick and easy! I was very worried about getting this insurance and G I made it simple.
Regarding making a claim, I cannot really comment, as I had no need to make any claims apart for an issue which regards baggage handling on my return, which I did not pursue. I was too tired and glad to be home!

Just to say I found the service very efficient and friendly and went on holiday feeling very relaxed in the knowledge that I was fully insured for all events. I am pleased to say we did not need their services but David was very clear that If I did, not to deal with anything myself but to contact them immediately. However, prior to booking the insurance I had to us the medical enquiry service first and they were excellent and extremely helpful and in an attempt not to miss out anything which they may have deemed necessary to declare the lady did not once appear bored with the conversation.
Only thing as far as I was concerned about the medical service, is the length of time it takes and the fact that you are phoning to the UK. Because I was dealing with two of us who had medical problems it did take some time. I wondered if there could be what I term a standard but clear form you could fill in before phoning them eg All personal details, every operation you have ever had, how may visits to the doctors or test etc you have had and this may speed up the process somewhat when you contact them. Other than that, I would recommend and have done so since the trip to my friends in Spain.

Hi David,
I have now been dealing with David Deverson at Globelink for 6 or 7 years usually taking
out an annual policy.
David has always made me feel special although I only need to contact him once a year
and has been attentive and helpful throughout all my fumblings with the totally
confusing world of insurance.

Although I found almost everything I wanted to know on your website, I needed just one small extra piece of information. The staff at Globelink helped me by explaining exactly what was covered by their policies and they also told me what wasn???t covered under a standard travel insurance policy. I had just assumed that all sports activities would be covered under a travel insurance policy, but I was amazed to find that most of the policies that I looked at would not cover me for some of my hobbies and the things that I wanted to experience on my backpacking holiday. My policy with Globelink covered me for Scuba diving to 30 metres, White Water Rafting, Bungee Jumping, Motor Cycling, Jet Skiing, Karate, Rock Climbing and a whole list of other sports.

We live in Spain and when we tried to arrange an Annual Multi Trip policy, the quotes we got local companies were enormous. Then we read about Globelink International in our English speaking newspaper and visited their website where we were delighted to see that their policies are available at the same price to residents of all European countries. Once you reach the age of 65, most travel insurance companies don???t want to know you!
A friend mentioned that she had recently arranged a policy for herself and her husband with a company on the internet and she phoned me back a little later with their name and number. I called Globelink and told them that I am 66 and my husband is 69. No problem, they said and they gave me a quote straight away for either a single trip policy, or for a years multi trip. They told me that they offer Multi Trip policies up to the age of 75 and single trip policies up to 80.
