These days it’s very easy to get away during the winter, as travel has become much more affordable. If you feel like getting some sun during the cold season, well there are several places you can go to. Just don’t forget to buy travel insurance so you’ll be ready for anything.
The Canary Islands, just off the African mainland, has long been a favourite of many Europeans thanks to the beautiful beaches, clear blue skies and pristine waters. There are several islands here that you can visit, but if you have to choose a few go to Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Those islands are very popular simply because of their scenic beauty, but if you prefer a quieter place, try La Palma or La Gomera.
The Caribbean is made up of more than 7,000 islands scattered among 28 nations, and the best way to experience its beauty is to go on a cruise during the winter months. Not only does it mark the end of the hurricane season, but you can get a lot of sun too. Everyone has their own opinion of what the best Caribbean island is, but Antigua, St Lucia, Jamaica and Barbados are almost always in everybody’s list. If you have winter sports travel insurance and are into diving, head on over to the Bahamas for some sun, diving and snorkelling, or you can spend your days in the Cayman Islands, Tobago and Trinidad, all famous for their beaches and colourful carnivals.
If you are the adventurous type and tired of the usual destinations, pack your bags and take a trip to Abu Dhabi or Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It’s the perfect place to meet new people and experience new culture, and the sunny climate in the UAE will keep you warm. In addition you can get plenty of sun in one of the many beaches there, and their hotels are among the best in the world. If money is not an issue head over to Oman which is just nearby and experience luxury and first class service. And if you are on an extended trip in the Middle East, you should visit Egypt and stay in any of the resorts in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh, as there are plenty of diving locations to enjoy.
Thailand has become very popular with Europeans mainly because of Phuket, and while that’s a site not to be missed, don’t forget to visit Krabi, Pattaya and Koh Samui as they’re just as scenic. And you may also want to fly over to Malaysia too and take in the sights and sounds of lovely Penang.
Whichever of these destinations you choose, you should spend some time researching for the right adventure activities travel insurance. There are plenty of affordable insurance policies available but the cover they provide varies, so look into each winter sports travel insurance carefully.
